A diptych inspired by the book, "How to Cook and Eat in Chinese" (1945) by Buwei Yang Chao. In these pieces, I use the context of mealtimes to reflect upon my Chinese-American identity and experiences in relation to the writings and recipes of Yang Chao.
More specifically, I explore the cultural significances of meal etiquette within Chinese families, and how food is used to reflect and communicate words that remain unspoken.
As further documentation of the process, I have also included my notes from the reading below.
